Administrative process
Staff review submissions and identify potential matches.
BUConnect does not let students and employers browse each other in the MVP. Belhaven personnel (Career Services, The Catalyst, and designated staff) review intake, check fit, and make introductions. The admin prototype is the working model of that workspace.
From form to introduction
This is the operating procedure for the November initiative. Technology supports it; it does not replace staff judgment.
-
Receive
A student or employer submits a form. The prototype stores a structured record and can send a mailbox copy to BUConnect@belhaven.edu.
-
Triage
Staff mark the record reviewed when contact information, résumé or opportunity description, and consent are complete. Incomplete items get a follow-up email—not a match.
-
Score
The system ranks pairs on shared skills (40%), opportunity type (25%), industry/interest (20%), location (10%), and major (5%). Scores are suggestions, not decisions.
-
Confirm
A person checks hours, start date, compensation expectations, and whether the role is appropriate. Sensitive work (PHI, financial production data) is routed off this form path.
-
Introduce
Staff email both parties, record the introduction in the workspace, and set a follow-up date. The student and employer take it from there unless staff are asked to stay involved.
